Lesson 50 - I’m Thinking About Quitting Kathy: I’m thinking about quitting. I’ve thought long and hard about it and I think it’s the right thing to do. John: Why? I thought you fit the bill perfectly for this job. Kathy: That’s beside the point. I’ve recently been having second thoughts about this job. The luster has worn off. John: Don’t make any rash decisions. Think this through. Kathy: I’m sick and tired of this dog-eat-dog mentality at this company. It’s just so cut throat. John: I can’t argue with you there. It’s a pretty hostile environment. But so is every major corporation. Kathy: I know. But I don’t see a future for me here. one day I’ll have to face that glass ceiling. John: But you got a great promotion a few months ago. Kathy: I know but in the long run, it’ll be a dead end. < Key expressions > ■ I’ve thought long and hard about it. ■ I’m sick and tired of this dog-eat-dog mentality at this company. ■ It’s just so cut throat. ■ one day I’ll have to face that glass ceiling. < Main dialogue > ■ I’ve thought long and hard about it and I think it’s the right thing to do. * think long and hard about something : ~에 대해 심사숙고 하다 ■ Why?
