Lesson 48 - Job Interview Interviewer: I noticed that you don’t have much experience in this field. John: No, I don’t. But I wanted to get into a new line of work and I thought this would be a good starting point. Interviewer: Why the sudden career change? Were you having problems with your old job? John: Oh, no. It’s just that I’ve always been interested in this field and I feel it’s the right time to make a change. Interviewer: You realize that you’ll be starting from scratch. Are you willing to work from the bottom up? John: Absolutely. I’m not afraid to take on any challenge. Interviewer: Can you state some of your strengths? John: First and foremost, I’m very creative. Interviewer: That’s important in the world of advertising. We’re also looking for someone who has drive and personal ambition. John: Well, when I put my mind into something, I go after it. Interviewer: Sounds good so far. < Key expressions > ■ I wanted to get into a new line of work and I thought this would be a good starting point. ■ Are you willing to work from the bottom up? ■ I’m not afraid to take on any challenge. ■ when I put my mind into something, I go after it. < Main dialogue > ■ I noticed that you don’t have much experience in this field. * work experience : 경력 * in this field : in this type of work ■ I wanted to get into a new line of work and I thought this would be a good starting point. * get into -> start / be involved in * a new line of work = a new type of work ■ You realize that you’ll be starting from scratch.
