Lesson 56 - Corporeal punishment

Radio host: So are you for or against corporeal punishment in our school system?
Caller: Personally, I feel strongly against it. I don’t believe that teachers have the right to take physical disciplinary action against students.
Radio host: But many parents feel some sort of discipline is necessary.
Caller: A form of discipline is essential but how much is too much when it comes to hitting students?
Radio host: So you’re implying that certain teachers can abuse their power?
Caller: That’s exactly my point. How can we determine when a teacher has gone overboard in class? Using the rod is just an easy way out.
Radio host: Good point. So what do you think is an alternative to corporeal punishment?
Caller: We should implement more after-school detention and force students to participate in community work.
Radio host: Any final comments to make?
Caller: Our utmost priority is to nurture our children and guide them in the proper direction.

Radio host:
Radio host:
Radio host:
Radio host:
Radio host:
