while in Florida and Georgia, dozens of fires burn at a record pace.

All across the country or way across the country, in Florida and Georgia,
firefighters have been battling huge wildfires for weeks now in tinder, dry conditions.
NBC’s Dawn Fratangelo was along the border between Florida and Georgia
and she has more on that story. Dawn? Good morning to you.

Good morning… good morning, Matt.
You can see it, you can smell it,
smoke hovering over northern Florida and southern Georgia
where firefighters are trying to control two major wildfires, one of which jumped the border.
And as a result, hundreds, including those here in this small town
have been asked to evacuate.

The southeast looks like a tinderbox.
More than 100,000 acres have burned in Georgia.
There are 228 active fires in Florida.
Why? Because it’s so dry.
“The weather conditions have been very tough. It’s very windy.
It’s very, very dry.”
Still, in tiny Moniac, Georgia,
four generations of the Rawlerson Family are staying put for now
despite a mandatory evacuation order.
“We’ve seen them actually coming closer.”

They did pack up cars when the order was issued.
Still, they wouldn’t leave.
Just to get into this restricted area,
we had to wear fire-retardant clothes and protective gear.
Even surrounded by fire,
these extended family members plan to stay as long as they can.

처음 대피명령이 떨어졌을 때에는 롤러슨씨 가족도 차에 짐을 실었지만, 지금은 집을 떠날 생각이 없습니다. 이 제한구역에 들어가기 위해서는 방화복과 보호장비를 착용해야 합니다. 산불에게 점점 포위되고 있는 롤러슨씨 대가족은 가능한 오랫동안 집에서 버틸 계획이라고 합니다.

- on the way to an R-rating은 ‘R등급으로 가는 길’이라고 직역되므로 ‘R등급을 받게 될 수 있다’로 해석할 수 있다. (R등급은 부모나 보호자의 동행이 없는 17세 미만의 청소년이 입장할 수 없는 영화를 가리킨다.) 여기에 쓰인 to는 전치사이므로 뒤에 동사를 쓸 경우에는 뒤에 동명사를 사용해야 한다.
