And an embarrassing audio tape of his confrontation
with the Minneapolis airport police officer following his arrest in a gay sex sting.
The tape was released on Thursday. NBC’s John Yang has details now. Hey, John, good morning.

Good morning, Anne. The tape is nine minutes of he said, he said
as the senator and the officer dispute each other version of events.
The officer accuses the senator of lying
and Craig accuses the officer of entrapping him.

Minutes after being arrested, Senator Craig denies he was in the men’s room for sex
and accuses the officer of soliciting him.
The senator repeatedly denies signaling the officer with his hand.
Craig insists he merely reached down to pick up a piece of toilet paper between the two stalls using his right hand.
But the officer says it was Craig’s left hand, palm up.

Senator Craig has lost the support of his republican colleagues in Congress,
the White House, and just late Thursday, the National Republican Party. Matt?
