Lesson 37 Navajo Indian Reservation Kathy: Can you recommend some places to visit around here? Desk clerk: If you’re a nature person, you can visit the state park about 10 miles from here. Kathy: I’ve come across so many parks already. What else is there? Desk clerk: Well, there’s an Indian reservation nearby if you’re interested. Kathy: That sounds intriguing. What can I expect to see there? Desk clerk: You’ll get a strong feel for the Navajo Indian culture. It’s still very much intact. Kathy: I’m very much interested in their traditional handcrafts. Desk clerk: They have plenty on display in various specialty shops. Kathy: Great. one more question. Would I be able to catch a powwow? Desk clerk: If you’re lucky, you can. Authentic powwows are hard to come by but I know they still have them. Kathy: So how do I get to this place? Desk clerk: This brochure will give you all the information you need. < Key expressions > ■ There’s an Indian reservation nearby if you’re interested. ■ You’ll get a strong feel for the Navajo Indian culture. ■ Would I be able to catch a powwow? ■ Authentic powwows are hard to come by. < Main dialogue > ■ If you’re a nature person, you can visit the state park about 10 miles from here. * a nature person -> someone who likes nature : 자연을 좋아하는 사람 ■ I’ve come across so many parks already. -> I have already visited many parks. ■ There’s an Indian reservation nearby if you’re interested. * an Indian reservation 《美》 (인디언을 위한 정부의) 지정 거류지 ■ That sounds intriguing.
